Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "kdelibs" and "plasma-desktop" packages and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

Better than Kubuntu, IMHO.

The LTS Kde Neon release, it's very very stable and updated, i like it a lot.

IMHO it's the best distro there with KDE, and it's rock solid because it's based on Ubuntu LTS (so Debian).

I've now been using Neon for 4 months as a replacement for Win10.
Neon's ( and linux in general) provides more user flexibility at the user interface than, in comparison to Win10, which makes me feel like I'm using an oversized mobile phone. More importantly though is the ability of KDE to do what I wan to do when I want to do it. No more mandatory updates and restarts in the middle of a project. No more highly reduced instances of hacks, malware and viruses.

Simple install, Discover for installing software is simple and straightforward. Massive interface customisation possibilities. Connects easily to almost any peripheral, including mobile phones.Huge Linux users tutorials and information on YouTube

Requires a little bit of learning to become accustomed to the different terminology. Can be tricky to use with some Nvidia products ( no so much as in the past). Setting up home networks can be problematic at times.

Having used Kubuntu and now KDE Neon, its neon all the way, you wont be dissapointed especially if you are moving to Linux from MS or Mac.

Another inspiration from Ubuntu! I was so disappointed with Kubuntu so I had to move to Kde Neon and wow! It's so bleeding-edge stuff from plasma you're getting and so stable!
