Linux Kodachi

Last Update: 2018-10-20 09:10 UTC

Linux Kodachi is a Debian-based distribution which can be run from a DVD or USB thumb drive. The distribution filters all network traffic through a VPN and the Tor network, obscuring the user's network location. The distribution attempts to clean up after itself, removing traces of its use from the computer.

Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

I am talking about version 4.0

Here we have some real "experts" compiling this distro !!!
Although I found out that
username can be : "root" or "kodachi" and the

password : "r@@too"
it is no good to anyone if this anyone hasn't got the same

keyboard as the compiler has. One cannot get in !!!!!
I have a German keyboard where the @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ are in a different place than on a English keyboard for example. Therefore - I say it again - username and passwords are useless - even IF they were provided.

Is that so hard to understand ???????????

What's wrong with setting up the keyboard first and THEN ask for the stupid password ??
Who is going to steal what. Or - make the password 1234567890 - if you are too scared that somebody might pinch the distro. Then all keyboards can read it !!!

I tested the Live USB burned by MX-16 native burner and everything works OK. BUT!!! I doupt about
the promessing secutity, while all its three browsers are NOT configured for secure surfing... They
are raporting to uncle goo le and not only. Since when just with addons firefox and the derivetives
are safe for the user. Mozilla's browsers, were never respecting us, always is the other way round.

So what it needs to do FIRST OF ALL, is to creat a persistend copy, then install Midori [installs also a native private browser along with the normal. But above all allows you to get rid off any sneaky search engine parasiting on-of you].
Then configure the VPN, and then few other trimings right and left... And a lot of "bloody" work for a pendrive in order to read my emails.

Unfortunately, Tails is not much better but ten minutes afrer the boot process and much less trimming you may start reading your emails, and this is lets say quicker.
Kodachi offers VPN as a main tool to safety and then the TOR, but living its browsers not configured in depth means at least ignorance of what exactly is privacy.
